Greetings, and welcome to the Grayson Veteran's Memorial website. My name is Kevin Brooks and I am a member of the Boy Scouts of America, in Troop 231. I am excited to begin this Eagle Scout project as I believe it to be a meaningful and worthwhile cause. Our men and women of the military deserve consideration, and a memorial to their service shows our community's respect. If you live in the city of Grayson and have served or are serving in our nation's military, I encourage you to take part in our memorial walk. If you have friends or family who have served or are serving, consider honoring them by participating in this project simply by buying a gift brick in their name.
Project Details
The Project will be located inside Grayson City Park, across the drive from the Picnic pavilion. Proceeds from your gift brick purchase will contribute to the funding needed to build the brick walk memorial and erect a flag pole which will fly a single flag displaying the five U.S. Military Service emblems – Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, and Coast Guard. We anticipate having the project completed on or before the middle of October 2014. So stop by the Veterans Memorial and look for the brick you purchased.
Take Part in the Community
Whether you are a retired veteran, or an active duty member, the program welcomes you. This gift brick fundraiser will allow a service member, or friends and family of a service member, to purchase a brick engraved with their rank and name, branch of service,
and dates of service. If you have lost a loved one in the military, I offer my deepest condolences. If you so choose, you may provide the name of the war or conflict in which they lost their lives. Instead of the Dates of Service in Line 3, provide the name of the conflict. However, only one of these two options are available. Please use either Dates of Service or Name of Conflict in Line 3.
If you are interested in purchasing a memorial brick please enter the information into lines 1, 2, and 3 exactly as specified:
If the name exceeds 20 characters, please abbreviate the first name to its initial. Enter specific branches as specified: Army, Navy, USMC, USAF, USCG.
Line 1: Full Name (e.g. John Smith)
Line 2: Abbreviated Ranks - Branch of Service (e.g. PFC -Army)
Line 3: Dates of Service (e.g. 1970-1991) Or Name of Conflict (e.g. Desert Storm)
